Hair Carries Memory. When Did You Last Oil It?

The days I went to school with glossy braids still feel warm in my memory. Every morning, my mother would oil my hair, comb it gently, and plait it tightly with a ribbon. Two braids, folded twice, because she made sure we grew our hair as long as it could possibly go.

My sister followed the same routine.

That routine, done without fail, compounded over time. And years later, I still carry the length and shine she patiently helped preserve.

As I grew older, I began to take that ritual into my own hands.

Oiling, for me, isn’t just about hair health. It’s one of the most effective ways I unwind. The act itself is calming, quiet, and grounding.

Some people tell me it’s been months since they last oiled their scalp.

I honestly can’t relate.

I always think: how much softness, stress relief, and silent healing are they missing out on?

This week, I shared a few of my favorite hair care quotes on Instagram, words that remind me why this ritual still matters.

When was the last time you oiled your hair?

Do you have childhood stories like mine, of someone who loved you, oiling and styling your hair with care?

Share your memory below. I’d love to send a bottle of my signature formula to one of the best entries each month, starting this month.

Let’s talk in the comments section.
